Posted on September 29, 2022October 28, 2023 By Nilesh

On Wednesday, Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay, sitting as a sole bench at the Calcutta High Court, instructed the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) to appoint an additional 22 candidates who had passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).

Earlier, on Monday, Justice Gangopadhyay had issued a similar directive to the WBBPE, instructing them to appoint 252 candidates who had approached the court, claiming they were unjustly denied teaching positions despite being on the merit list. The judge emphasized the need for prompt execution of these appointments.

Furthermore, on the same Monday, Justice Gangopadhyay mandated the West Bengal Board of Primary Education to fill 3,929 vacant teaching positions by November 7. Additionally, the judge revised a previous order from Tuesday, stating that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) could proceed with its investigation into the SSC recruitment scam based on the existing FIR, without the requirement of filing a new one.
