On Thursday, Sudeshna Roy, the chairperson of the West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights, visited Moldanga in Birbhum to meet with the family of the five-year-old boy whose lifeless body was discovered on the roof of their neighbor’s house on Tuesday. Roy strongly advocated for severe punishment for the accused individuals involved in this horrifying incident.
Expressing her dismay, Roy stated, “I don’t have words to condemn the ghastly act. I understand the state of mind of his (boy’s) parents. The Commission wants strict punishment for the accused persons.” Following her meeting with the grieving parents, Roy emphasized the need for justice.
The young boy had gone missing on Sunday from Moldanga village under the Santiniketan police station, and his body was tragically found on Tuesday. Police have reported the arrest of two individuals in connection with the case. The parents of the deceased child are demanding capital punishment for the accused.
In a separate development, sources indicate that a delegation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by state president Sukanta Majumdar, was allegedly prevented from entering Moldanga village. Attempts to enter the village on Thursday afternoon were reportedly obstructed by a group of individuals. However, after some initial resistance, a few locals eventually escorted five members of the delegation to the boy’s house to meet with his family, according to sources.
